How to capture fireworks

Best settings to capture fireworks explained

Capturing colorful fireworks delights one's heart especially when these fireworks are a symbol of a grand celebration or festival.

The overall purpose of this hub is to explain the best settings you need in your digital camera to capture fireworks. So lets get started...

1. Reach the destination on time

The first step towards successful photography of fireworks consists of aiming the camera at the most desirable and prospective location .

2. Set the digital camera on a tripod stand

You know why i am asking you to use a tripod stand? Well, a tripod stand ensures that the camera is free from any external vibration, which might occur if you are shooting the fireworks by holding the camera in your hands. Moreover, using a tripod only adds to the perfect image quality and automated timing settings often work well with this arrangement.

3. Adjusting the camera

Next step involves adjusting the camera's settings. Remember to operate the camera in it's manual mode so that you can access a wide range of adjustable settings easily.

Aperture - keep it to a normal value. The fireworks emit appropriate lights so you do not need to setting the aperture to a smaller or a larger value.

Shutter speed and ISO - Set the shutter speed and ISO to a low value. This is necessary especially because fireworks captured with the effect of leaving a trail of light streak behind are awesome and spellbinding.

Flash - turn it off. You actually don't need this when there is already a bright light show going on.

Self timer with multiple shots - When you are confident that the firework is in full show, you can use self timer with multiple shots.

Note: Hope and anticipation is the key here. Never get dis-hearted when you miss to capture a firework. Wait for the right time with confidence in your mind. Best of luck :)
